St. Croix

Since Sunday May 18th, I have been in St. Croix, USVI. My co-worker Neal and I have been training the wonderful people at the Containerport Seaport how to use T-Link, how to drive a forklift and how to perform first aid and CPR. We leave here tomorrow afternoon to head to St. Thomas via seaplane, wish me luck!

So far this trip I have learned that I DON’T like conch, that climbing to the top of a 120 foot crane is tiring and that Neal is a chicken (he wouldn’t climb with me)!

Enjoy the first round of pictures from this trip!

Let them eat cake!

So while I am waiting patiently for my invitations to arrive (they should be here by tomorrow!) I thought I would give a quick wedding update…

On May 3rd, John and I went to GreenWise (Publix’s answer to Whole Foods) for our cake tasting. Our sugary confection will be four layers of scrumptious deliciousness featureing vanilla cake with various custard fillings and fondant icing.

Layer 1 (Bottom) -Vanilla Custard with Fresh Strawberry Slices

Layer 2 – Milk Chocolate Custard

Layer 3 – Vanilla Custard

Layer 4 – Buttercream (but only John and I get that layer – It’s for our 1st anniversary!)

Palm Beach Leadership Council

SUGAR!!!
Three guesses about what these Palm Beach County high school Juniors and Seniors are standing in from of….

No. It is not the world’s largest sand box.

Nope. It isn’t Florida’s lame attempt to create a less flat landscape.

It’s Sugar!!!

SUGAR!!!Today is yet another reason why I LOVE my job. I got to spend 6 hours of my day talking and hanging out with area teens who are members of the Palm Beach Leadership Council. My co-worker Neal and I – along with board members of the Port of Palm Beach – explained the workings of the port, the various companies that currently reside here and how we affect local commerce and Caribbean. Tropical Shipping and FPL are by far the largest tenants on this 115 acre stretch of land but there is also fuel, molasses, Merchants (a grocery warehouse) and SUGAR!!! Now where did I put down my coffee…

tada!

Sample Arrangement

Yeah! Flowers! So, I think that my samples arrangements turned out awesome! I still think that they are expensive but I love them so much that I am willing to pay the price.

Thank you to all of my loved ones who so kindly gave monetary birthday gift to put toward the flowers at the wedding. I can’t wait to see them set up at the reception!

168 Days Remaining

weddingflowers.jpg

As of right now there are 168 days remaining until the wedding!

Quick question…When it comes to planning the wedding, why do I seem only to like the things that are expensive? (Mother, don’t answer that, it was a rhetorical question) The flower arrangements that I like are $130.00 a piece (and that was after I completely changed the type of flowers because I simply refused to pay $150.00 a piece).

Humph…and I have 12 tables too, you do the math. That is already more than what I had budgeted for flowers and it doesn’t even take into consideration the personal flowers (bouquets, corsages, flower petals, and boutonnières), the arch for the ceremony, the sweetheart table….the list goes on and on…

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I hit the lottery…I don’t need a big lottery, a small $20,000 one will do.

Welcome!
